A singer, pianist and fiddle player, Kate grew up in rural Gloucestershire where she was immersed in the folk tradition as a child before going on to study Music at the University of Leeds. With an eclectic and wide-ranging performance background that encompasses choirs, bands, music theatre, a cappella groups and musical direction, Kate has performed all over Europe in everything from folk ensembles to rock bands.
Kate is the creator and leader of Break Out Voices – a 100 strong member community pop choir non-auditioned singers based in South Bristol. Singing Kate’s unique arrangements of songs, the choir puts on high-energy, entertaining and theatrical performances across Bristol and the South West. Kate is also one of the choir directors for the Sing for Happiness Project, a large scale research project into singing’s impact on happiness, leads a lunchtime wellbeing choir, and runs a choir for people living with lung cancer.
