Mark Lasis is a classical and jazz accordionist currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music under Professor Owen Murray. Having started playing accordion at the age of eight, he has since developed a diverse musical career spanning classical, jazz, chamber music and musical theatre.
Mark was one of the first accordionists to study at the Junior Academy, and the very first to join the Junior Jazz department of the Royal Academy of Music. He has performed at leading venues across London, Oxford and beyond. His experience includes solo recitals, chamber music, jazz ensemble performance, pit orchestra work, and appearances at prestigious festivals and competitions, including winning a silver medal at the Italia Award World Accordion Contest.
Alongside his performing career, Mark is passionate about music education and enjoys helping pupils of all ages and abilities develop their musical skills and confidence. Whether introducing complete beginners to the accordion or supporting more advanced musicians, he aims to make lessons engaging, enjoyable and tailored to each individual's goals.
